Frequently Asked Questions

A: A Hindu is anyone who identifies with the diverse spiritual and cultural traditions that have evolved in Bharat (India). This inclusive definition encompasses various paths, including Jains, Buddhists, Sikhs, Vaishnavas, Saivites, Vedantins, and Saktis, among others.

A: HSS is ideologically inspired by the vision of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)—a vision of a progressive, dynamic, and organized Hindu society that contributes to the welfare of the entire world (Vishwa Mangal). However, HSS Germany is a completely independent, non-profit organization. We focus specifically on the needs and integration of Hindus living here in Germany.

A: HSS is a 100% volunteer-based organization; no member or leader receives a salary. Our day-to-day activities are managed by a dedicated team of volunteer officers.

  • Vistaraks: Volunteers who commit several years to full-time service.

  • Pracharaks: Individuals who dedicate their lives to the mission of HSS. The organization is governed by a Board of Directors as per its established bylaws.

A: HSS operates on the principle of consensus. We do not hold traditional elections; instead, leadership is determined through a process of collective agreement and consultation among experienced volunteers, ensuring harmony and a shared vision at all levels.

A: HSS is a volunteer-based organization, not a membership-based one. We do not charge fees, nor do we hold public fundraising events for our operations. Following an ancient tradition, volunteers may make a voluntary financial offering (Guru Dakshina) once a year during the Guru Poornima festival. This contribution is made to the Bhagwa Dhwaj (Saffron Flag), which we revere as our supreme Guru.

A: No. HSS Germany uses its resources exclusively for its local activities and community projects within Germany. We do not send funds to any other country or external organizations.

A: No, HSS is strictly a non-political, cultural organization. While we work to raise awareness about issues affecting the Hindu community, we do not support, endorse, or fund any political party or candidate in Germany or abroad.

A: Our primary focus is character building and community service (Sewa). We do not act as a funding agency for other groups. However, many individuals inspired by HSS values often go on to lead or volunteer in various other social service organizations worldwide, carrying the spirit of service into different fields of society.
